About Us

Our story

Mind the Sugar was born out of a personal concern for the health of children in the UK. When I moved here from a country that implemented strict laws against advertising junk sugary food for kids and enforced a Front of Package Labelling system for unhealthy products1, I was shocked to see the sugar content of baby and kid’s food in the UK.

I also noticed how difficult it was for consumers to make informed choices about what they were buying and feeding their children. I decided to take action and got in contact with Antonio Rodríguez Estrada, the creator of sinAzucar.org, who encouraged me to follow his steps and create a similar initiative in the UK.

After days of brainstorming sessions with my friend Felicidad, the name “Mind the Sugar” emerged, along with our initial prototype photos.

Our Mission

Our mission is to reveal the actual content of sugar in processed products.

We all know what sugary treats are, but many often fall into the trap of “no added sugar”, “100% natural” or “Naturally occurring sugars”. Mind the sugar provides information that helps educate consumers about the content of sugar in food products, in a graphic and intuitive approach.

Our Vision

We want to promote the reduction of sugar consumption in the population.

We aim to improve purchasing behaviour to encourage a healthier diet. We also want to raise awareness and support public policies that limit the consumption of sugar, especially for babies and children
